Where To Stay Costa Brava

by Judy
(New York)

Hello, I will be in Spain from May 1-10. I was told a great place to go for a few days is the Costa Brava.

I will have a car so getting around in the day is easy. Would like to stay near some restaurants/pub/cafe so in the evening I can walk back to the hotel.

Can you recommend an area and/or hotel that would work for this?

Thanks, Judy

Hi Judy

Thanks for getting in touch.

The beginning of May is certainly a lovely time of year to come to the Costa Brava. It will be warm, and quite quiet.

Having a car is great as it means that you will easily be able to do some exploring.

Without knowing your interests or budget it is hard to advise on a particular town/hotel, but it might be a good idea to choose somewhere around Begur or Palafrugell, so that you are half way along the Costa Brava, so that you can easily head off to explore other areas. You could stay in either of those towns (which are only 10 minutes drive to the beaches) or at the beaches themselves. At that time of year you would probably be better off at one of the bigger beach villages like Llafranc or Calella de Palafrugell.

Just a few things I would recommend exploring would be the the beaches around Begur, the medieval village of Pals, the Roman ruins near L’Escala, the Dali Museum in Figueres, Cadaques, the Cap de Creus headland, and Sant Pere de Rodes Monastery.

Have a lovely holiday.
