Cost of Living Costa Brava Spain 2013

by Łukasz
(Poland)

Hi,

I'm going to visit with my family 2 adults + 2 children (3 and 7 years old) the Costa Brava region for a holiday in June.

I'm taking into consideration the L'Estartit area.

But I don't know the cost of living in Spain at all. We would like to stay in a self catering apartment.

I would be very grateful for some advice.

Thank you very much in advance,
Best regards
Łukasz

Hi Łukasz

Thanks for getting in touch regarding the cost of living on the Costa Brava.

I’ve given you some costs below, which will hopefully help you plan the budget for your holiday. June is certainly a cheaper time of year to visit (July and August are the expensive summer months).

Public transport - Public transport is relatively inexpensive on the Costa Brava (for example - a single train ticket to Barcelona Airport from Girona costs €12.30 and a single bus ticket from L’Estartit to Girona is costs €5.50).

Petrol - Expect to pay around €1.43 per litre for unleaded petrol in Catalonia.

Taxi - A taxi on the Costa Brava costs anywhere from €0.59 to €1.00 per km. You will be charged for the return trip as well.

Food - A supermarket shop on the Costa Brava costs much the same as in the UK, which I imagine is more expensive than Poland (for example - on average, depending what supermarket you visit - 1 litre of milk is €0.85, a loaf of bread is €1.10, 1 kg of apples is €1.95, a bottle of wine €5).

Restaurants - In budget to mid-range restaurants you can expect to pay about €21 per person for a meal, if you choose pizza or a burger you can expect to pay about €8 per person for a meal.

Hotels - There are plenty of hotels in L’Estartit costing €100-155 for a family of 4 in June.

Self catering apartments - There are several self catering apartments in L’Estartit costing €45-110 for a family of 4 in June. Some offer quite good discount deals.

Have a good holiday.

Jonnie
